Yes, I was feeling pretty furious after reading this item. If it was just the Tories who were happy to condemn all these kids and their families to a life of penury and misery then we could hope that the GE would bring some welcome relief and hope in the form of a Labour victory. Unfortunately, Sir KidStarver and his robotic heartless Red Tory shadow chancellor, are more than happy to follow the same disgraceful political and fiscal path. Retention of the '2 child benefit rule' and no commitment to do anything about the bedroom tax along with a refusal to implement a wealth tax, equalisation of income and capital gains tax rates, etc. is truly depressing. If I hear one more pathetic excuse re Truss trashing the economy, war in Ukraine blah blah I will think seriously about rejoining the Anarchy Party (but they wouldn't have me). Maybe I could just let Freddie loose at Labour HQ. Not to mention watering down the employment policies, rowing back on the Green New Deal, punitive rhetoric re the criminal justice system, refusal to support a humane immigration policy, and refusal to even entertain PR. Fcucking hopeless, and fcucking clueless. As well as mendacious and more than happy to dive into the moral swamp that is the armaments industry--New Statesman is partnering with BAE and other death dealers to sponsor events at the up-coming Labour conference.
We can only hope for a hung parliament with Labour having to work together with SNP, Greens and Lib Dems.
Yours,
Malcolm Le Mercia
